Vineyard Wind 1, first major offshore wind farm in US, receives federal approval

Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) is leading the development of the Vineyard Wind 1 project on behalf of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and the project owners.

Vineyard Wind 1 was proud to receive federal approval through a Record of Decision (ROD) on May 11, 2021. CIP acquired the offshore lease that included the Vineyard Wind 1 project in 2016. A federal Construction and Operation Plan (COP – yes, really!) was filed at the end of 2017, and after several delays, is finally approved. The Vineyard Wind 1 project went through an unprecedented review process that generated more than 30,000 public comments, more than 90% of which supported the project.  The project was reviewed by more than two dozen federal, state, and local agencies over the course of more than three and a half years.

Key COP personnel working on Development of Vineyard Wind 1 include Lars Thaaning Pedersen (Vineyard Wind CEO and COP Co-CEO), Rachel Pachter (Chief Development Officer), Matt Robertson (Director of Environmental Affairs), and Jack Arruda (Technical Development Director). The project now goes to Klaus Møller (Vineyard Wind 1 Project Director and COP Partner) and his team that includes, Rasmus Miller, Søren Sørensen, Bjarke Koch, Babak Mataji, and many others for a successful construction.
