August 26, 2022 – Copenhagen
Today, Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) Korea, a global leader in offshore wind development and construction, received the HRH Crown Prince Frederik International Business Award for its Export Achievements in South Korea and the East Asian market including Taiwan where 2 projects have entered the construction phase. Since entering South Korea, COP has secured exclusive rights to develop six offshore wind projects totaling 2.4GW (900MW of which were secured together with its local partner), a pipeline that has demonstrated the opportunity and laid the groundwork for Danish companies, known for their leadership and commitment to sustainability, to bring their services abroad.
This is just the third time the awards have been presented. Established in 2020 as a collaboration between the Danish Export Association, the Royal Danish House, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the awards recognize Danish companies abroad that present an outstanding effort to promote sustainable Danish products, services and values worldwide.
COP Partner and Korea Co-CEO, Jesper Krarup Holst, and David Taeseung Yoo, COP Korea Co-CEO, said, “We are very honored and proud to receive the HRH Crown Prince Frederik International Business Award on behalf of the entire Copenhagen Offshore Partners Korea team. We literally have a tailwind in Korea, where we, together with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ green energy funds, have succeeded in positioning ourselves and Danish offshore wind as a significant player in the green transition in East Asia, thereby creating the basis for both Danish export success and jobs.”
COP’s offshore wind development activities are supported through its exclusive partnership with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), the world’s largest fund manager of greenfield investments in green energy infrastructure. In addition to COP and CIP’s six projects already underway, the groups are awaiting approval for eight more projects from the Korean authorities. These projects will further support South Korea and the East Asian market’s clean energy economy and contribute to South Korea’s goals to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, be among the world’s five leading offshore wind countries, and establish green jobs across the country.
Beyond South Korea, COP is actively developing projects in Asia Pacific where the group has established local offices in Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and Australia. COP is honored to receive the HRH Crown Prince Frederik International Business Award alongside other Danish leaders including Novo Nordisk France and Troldtekt Deutschland.
